Ode to the Ladies

From the first moment I came from the womb
and the first touch of sunlight on my face
from the first taste of a kiss on my cheek
I've been in love.

It was my mother who clothed and fed me,
though she must've been fed up with me now and again.
My sisters, they taught me to cheat in board games,
so that the young ones could feel the joy of victory.
My friends who believed in me when I could not.
And my niece, she proved you can grow a rose from dry land.

My father taught me how to treat women right,
but my momma taught my why they are worth it.

I've been blissed
I've been blessed
sometimes I've been pissed
and found myself in the middle of a test.

And through it all
I am thankful
for the magnificent
inspiring
incomprehensible women in my life
who will not let facts get in the way of a good argument.
