O, how I’d like to believe those words today, Winston. 
But today is a charade of charlatans,
a masquerade of the wicked 

Who came among us 
dressed as saints and devotees 
showing us only what we wanted to see.

Wolves amid the sheep.

Today we bleed. 
Tears of blood have stained our sheets
and made us wander in the night 
with bewildered eyes. 

Time has ravished me from my visions, 
the ones I held too dear. 

I’m an echo in the vastness of life.
Empty and hollow and I wanna hide.

Yet against the burning sunset
 

I rise
